Pembrokeshire People First

We work to improve the lives of people with disabilities in Pembrokeshire.

Pembrokeshire People First now has 65 members and we have elected four members to be our officers. They are:

  • Sophie Hinksman - Chair (Newly elected)
  • Mark Davies - Vice Chair and Editor of the Newsletter (Re-elected)
  • Stuart Merritt - Treasurer (Re-elected)
  • Claire Richings - Secretary (Newly elected)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We held our last AGM on the 15th October 2008 where Theatr Fforwm Cymru helped us to learn about how to elect people to be officers.  Then we voted in the officers listed above. We would like to thank Jon Skone, Director of Social Care & Housing, Pembrokeshire County Council for attending the voting workshops and taking part in our AGM with us.

We are working towards Pembrokeshire People First becoming an independent organisation in 2009 so that we can access different funds and offer training to our members.

Pembrokeshire People First has been part of the Manifesto Campaign of All Wales People First. This states we have the right to:

  • Control our own lives
  • To speak up for ourselves
  • To respect
  • To personal growth
  • To the same activities, friendships and relationships
  • To choose how and where we live
  • To have good quality health care
  • To have good quality support
